Dearest Dave,
I was deeply saddened when I heard the news that you'd left us.
I'd known you for over 30 years, since we were both neighbours on Comberton Road.
I always found you to be such a lovely gentleman, a solid friend, and such a decent, helpful, honest, hard working and dearly loved family man, who left this life way too soon.
My dear parents would've shed many tears if they were still alive to hear this sad news.
Mum and dad had a lot of love for you and we were always so happy to catch you for a chat most days when we were all in and out of number 5 and number 6, and then later on in life when we'd see you with your beautiful family.
Fond memories from Station Hill to years later when I played a show in your garden at Chaddesley Corbett.
Love you mate. x
My condolences to all the family. x
Rest in Peace Dave.

Green Fingers
well Mr Hopkins you are solely responsible for getting me in to gardening. Your passion for growing things was infectious but you had the magic in your green fingers, sadly i dont, but you did at least tell me that! Your legacy in our garden is a constant reminder to me of happy days of banter. The rowan is flourishing and the stumpery continues to bloom and surprise. You rescued us also so many times around the house with our inability on matters oractical and never shy of pointing it out. Inmiss the banter and our friendship you went too soon my friend.
